June 12th, 2025 – “Negotiations Update #1”

Background

On June 4th, 2025, the Minister of Jobs and Families, Patty Hajdu, and Secretary of State of Labour John Zerucelli met with representatives from our union. All parties involved agreed that a negotiated collective agreement was the best way forward.

On June 12th, 2025, Minister Hajdu and Secretary Zerucelli sided with the Corporation’s request that we be forced to vote on their final offers.
As of writing this bulletin, we have no details of the process or the timeline of this vote, just that it will be administered by Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB).

Your Vote Matters

The Corporation has been publishing small details about their offer, with their highlights including what we get to keep but no indications of any concessions they were willing to make to move negotiations along.

While we eagerly await the details of the contract and the vote, we know that this vote will be about more than just the contract details.

Voting No

By voting ‘no,’ you are taking a stand:

  • Closing CUPW post offices
  • Paving the path to privatization
  • Corporate bonuses
  • Mismanagement
  • Loss of hundreds of full-time jobs
  • Reduced services for all Canadians
Voting Yes

By voting ‘yes,’ you are supporting:

  • Against government interference
  • Against bad faith bargaining
  • For a public post office
  • For expansion of services
  • For workers’ rights
  • For all Canadians
Stay Informed

The Corporation and the government are banking on you being tired and scared as they test out their new union-busting methods to bypass our union and intimidate you into voting yes for a bad collective agreement.
