Pension Seminar (1-day): Sunday, June 8th, 2025

This 1-day course will touch on all the moving parts of the pensionable service and explains the terminology in layman’s terms to aid you in choosing your optimal retirement date. It will also explain the three types of life insurance and some legal requirements needed to ensure the beneficiaries are updated and aware of all the different types of life insurances. We hope to also present a segment on benefits, which will explain criteria necessary to ensure coverage and continuation if time permits.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 by 5 pm
Placement priority may be affected by projected date of retirement.
Late/unselected applications will be kept on file for a possible additional session, date TBD.

Advanced Shop Steward (5-day): June 23rd to 27th, 2025

This course gives experienced Stewards an opportunity to assess their strengths and work on the areas they want to improve. Participants review grievance investigation basics and practice face-to-face communications, including meetings with management. Other topics include self care, strategies for shop floor mobilization and recruiting new Stewards, the duty of fair representation, the rights of temporary employees and On-Call Relief Employees (OCREs), and the Short-Term Disability Plan.

Only members who have previously completed the Basic Shop Steward course need apply.
Selection priority will be given to applicants currently serving as a Shop Steward.
