Friends and comrades,
This week’s Dispatch fell apart quite quickly with the announcement that we are switching to rotating strikes. So I’m going to encourage you to disregard that one.
In this new and improved Dispatch, we are going to cover the texting service, strike pay, the RSMC flyer pay clawback, and rotating strikes.
Before getting to that, we do need to clarify that because the full-strike is coming to an end at 6 am on Saturday, proceed to work as normal. If you’re scheduled to work on Saturday or Sunday, go for your shift. Letter Carriers and RSMCs will return to work on Tuesday. There is no planned picketing until we are called on by our National office to do so.
Solidarity,
Kyle Turner, Communications Officer

Texting Service
If you have signed up for the texting service and you are not receiving the messages, you need to add the phone number 18338490390 to your contacts. Your phone might be treating these messages as spam and adding the number to your contacts is how to make sure that doesn’t happen.
To sign up for the texting service or the email list, click HERE.

Strike Pay
Because our full-strike is coming to an end on Saturday morning, the plan for distributing cheques has changed. On Friday, October 10th, cheques for week two were taken to the EMPP, Delton, and Whitemud South picket locations. Plans for the other locations will be figured out once we return to work.
If you have any concerns about your strike pay, please email sectreas730@gmail.comwith the exact issue, dates, times, and location that you were picketing at and we will try to address the issue. This email address is specific to strike pay issues and will be the only way that strike pay issues can be addressed.

RSMC Flyer Pay Clawback
We have received notice that the Corporation will be clawing back flyer payments from RSMCs. As flyer payments for RSMCs are based on numbers from the previous year, this is money that has already been earned. Our union objects to this and we are currently waiting to hear if this will require everyone to file an individual grievance or if this becomes a National Policy Grievance.

Rotating Strikes
We are shifting from a full-strike to rotating strikes. In this situation, a Local or multiple Locals could be called out at any time, but we won’t know until it’s time to go out. We will use all the channels we have to get the word out as quickly as possible once we know.

Community Announcements
- Fight for Education March: Thursday, October 16th, meeting in the Ice District Plaza (“Moss Pitt”) between 10:00 and 10:30 am. On the south side, meet at Southgate Mall and park in the southeast corner closest to the Whitemud. Two shifts, same for both locations: 7:30 am to 9:00 am, 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
