Friends and comrades,
In this week’s Dispatch, we are covering the most recent negotiations updates, the slo-pitch and BBQ social, Local merch and our new direct to film printer, the Women’s Equinox, an upcoming Regional education opportunity, and the next Organizing Committee meeting.
Before getting to that, as a result of the tariffs in the United States, there have been a number of changes when it comes to sending items across the border. For items to be accepted for delivery in the US, duties must be paid. For more information on this and for how to pay these costs if you have a business that is shipping to the US, click HERE.
One final reminder: our National overtime ban is still in effect.
Solidarity,
Kyle Turner, Communications Officer

Negotiations Updates
Last Wednesday, our union submitted global offers to the Corporation for both the Urban and RSMC bargaining units with the intention to meet the following Friday. The Corporation asked for more time to review, so the meeting was postponed until Monday. On Monday, federal mediators advised our union that Canada Post had cancelled the meeting because they still need more time to review.
On Tuesday, the Corporation released its Q2 report, claiming the Corporation has lost $407-million before taxes. Mail revenues were up by $153-million in comparison to this time last year, with the Corporation admitting that it failed to raise stamp prices appropriately. To read our union’s full bulletin, click HERE.
Following the release of this Q2 report, the Corporation agreed to meet with our negotiating committees on Wednesday, August 27th. According to the latest bulletin from our National office, the Corporation has refused to move on from its final offers that we voted to reject. You can read that full bulletin HERE and you can also hear CUPW negotiator Jim Gallant breaking down the Corporation’s arguments HERE.

Slo-Pitch and BBQ Social
Everyone is invited to a Baseball and BBQ picnic on Sunday, September 7th from 12pm-5pm at the Airway Field Park (Field #3, 11113 113 Street). Drinks and food provided by the Union in a family-friendly, pet-friendly, no drugs or alcohol event. Baseball will be played from 1:00-4:00 but feel welcome to bring your family’s favorite outdoor pastime! We would be grateful to anyone who brings extra ball gloves, balls, or bats for the game.

Local Merch and Direct to Film Printer
We have started to update the Local website with information about the t-shirts and other merch that we currently have for sale at the office. We do not have an online store, so you if you’re interested in buying something, you will have to send an email or stop by the office in person.
At the July GMM, the Local membership also passed a motion to purchase a direct to film printer and heat press, which means we can now make some smaller amounts of Local apparel right here in the Local union hall. For more information about this and to get involved, click HERE.

Women’s Equinox
The Women’s Equinox has been planned for the weekend of September 12-14th, 2025. This event is taking place just outside of Red Deer at Camp LG Barnes on Gull Lake (40421 Range Rd 10, Gull Lake, AB T0C 0J0).
The Local Women’s Committee is able to send 20 members from Edmonton. Cost per member is $20, even for members outside of Edmonton and Calgary. This event is a great opportunity to learn more about women’s health in a warm and welcoming environment with your fellow union sisters and cousins. More details to follow.
If you have questions or concerns, you can contact the Committee at Womenof730@gmail.com.
