Negotiations/Vote Update

As reported on Friday through our texting service, website, and social media, members of the Urban and RSMC bargaining units voted to reject the Corporation’s contract offers. Across both bargaining units, the percentage voting to reject was close to 70% — 68.5%  Urban and 69.4% RSMC.

According to reporting from the CBC, 80.4% of eligible voters from the Urban bargaining unit and 82.8% of eligible voters from the RSMC bargaining unit participated.

To read National President Jan Simpson’s blog post thanking members for rejecting the offer and for participating in the vote, click HERE.

There have been a lot of questions about what happens next. All we can say with certainty is that our union has made it clear that we are ready to negotiate and we will be inviting the Corporation back to the table. For the latest information, be sure to check out the National website at www.cupw.ca and sign up for the eDigest to get these updates sent directly to your inbox.
