Negotiations Updates

The deadline to make sure your email address was updated with the CIRB for the forced vote was Monday, July 7th. Our National office has received lots of complaints about the process from members and has since for an extension for this process. No word yet on whether that extension will be granted, but you can read the full bulletin HERE.

In other CIRB news, our union’s unfair labour practice complaint regarding the Corporation bargaining directly with members has been dismissed. Full reasons will apparently be given by the CIRB at another date, but it seems the CIRB has found that “…the employer communications did not contain anti-union statements or deprecating references to the union or its positions and did not have the effect of undermining the union in the eyes of bargaining unit employees.”To read the full bulletin, click HERE.

This is an interesting result when contrasted with the Corporation telling us that this vote “gives employees the opportunity to have a voice.” This ignores the democratic processes of our union and how our contract demands are made by workers. Click HERE for the full bulletin.

We still don’t know when this vote is going to happen, but for information on why you should vote NO on the contract offer, click HERE.

National Webinar: Voting on Canada Post’s Offers

Our National office is hosting a webinar, “Voting on Canada Post’s Offers: What You Need to Know.” This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the Corporation’s offers and our union’s positions on the proposals.

At the end of the registration form, there is a box to enter any questions you might have.

To participate, you must register in advance. Please note all times are in Eastern Standard Time.

Message from the Local President

In March of this year, a motion was presented at the General Membership Meeting to suspend the Local special assessment for a period of one year. This was done due to the financial strain our members endured during the 5-week strike and due to the money the Local saved during the pandemic.

This required a massive movement of money to maintain our current level of service. For the next 12-months (July 2025 – June 2026), you will not be charged the $14.95 (urban) or $14.94 (RSMC) for a savings of approximately $179.40. We hope that this can help give you some financial relief in these difficult times.
