Local Dispatch (26/05/26)

Edit: In the email Dispatch, the resolution writing session says May 10th when it should be May 30th.

Friends and comrades,

In this week’s Dispatch, we are covering the June GMM, education opportunities, upcoming social events, upcoming committee meetings,

Before getting to that, there are a few points I would like to highlight.

First, the free showing of Norma Rae at the Garneau Theatre (8712 109 St NW) is happening this coming Sunday (May 31st) at 3:30 pm. Bring your friends! Seating is limited to 500. If you want to catch another movie, Public Interest Alberta is showing Union (about the Amazon Labor Union) at 6:30 pm. The cost for this showing is $10.

Second, the next resolution writing drop-in session is happening on Saturday, May 30th at 10 am. If you want to learn how to write a resolution to modify our CUPW National Constitution, to make a contract demand, or to present a motion at a Local general membership meeting, attend this session!

Third, our Local will be selecting delegates for our Regional Conference at the September GMM. If you wish to become a delegate, you must be a member in good standing and you need to have attended 50% of the GMMs in the last 12-months. For more details about becoming a delegate, check page 49-50 of our Local By-Laws HERE.

Solidarity,

Kyle Turner, Communications Officer
