Negotiations Updates

We have received two updates about the tentative agreements. First, there is a bulletin about delivery staffing changes. For RSMCs, there is an explanation of the proposed Permanent Flex Employee (PFEs), including a guarantee of 20-hours per week, weekend parcel delivery, and the possibility of being assigned to work in different installations when work is not available at the primary work location.

For Urban members, there are two points. First, there is Part-Time Unstructured (PTU), which includes a guaranteed 20-hours per week, as well as being eligible for pension, benefits, job security, and vacation leave. Like PFEs, PTU can also be sent to other installations if there is no work at their own installation.

Second, the bulletin covers the proposed position of Parcel Delivery Part Time (PD PT). This will create a new classification in Group 2 where the weekend delivery model has been implemented. Workers in this position will be guaranteed 15-hours per week with the majority of hours worked on the weekend, and these workers will be regular employees who are eligible for pension, benefits, job security, and vacation leave. To read the full bulletin, click HERE.

The second update from our National office focuses on the RSMC tentative agreement and moving RSMCs to an hourly rate of pay. This will allow for pay for all hours worked and will also include meal and rest periods, among other changes. To read the full bulletin, click HERE.

Of course, all of these proposed changes depend on us voting to accept these agreements. We don’t currently have dates scheduled for those votes yet as we are waiting for language to be finalized for STDP and personal days. The expectation is that this will be figured out by January 16th.

Have You Signed Your CUPW Application for Membership?

In order to be eligible to participate in the coming contract vote, you must be a member in good standing. This requires that you complete your application for membership and pay $5. This also allows you to attend general membership meetings, represent your Local as a delegate at conferences, and free life insurance through our union’s insurance plan.
