Negotiations Updates

As of Friday, as was sent out over the text service and email list, our union and the Corporation came to an agreements in principles about our collective agreements. The language for these agreements that we will vote on still has to be finalized, but while that language is being worked on, our union has agreed to suspend the strike and the Corporation has agreed to suspend its right to lockout. We will send out further details when we get them. To read the full bulletin, click HERE.

The Corporation has also released its third quarter report. The Corporation says its losses are a result of long-term, structural challenges. Of course, our union points out the uncertainty that comes with a 2-year labour disruption that was extended through continued government interference. Revenue from letter mail as well as the volume of letter mail both saw an increase. Not surprising, Purolator’s revenues are up $477-million. To read the full bulletin, click HERE.

We Together Strong Community – No Family Should Go Hungry at Christmas

We Together Strong Community is working toward doing its 6th annual Christmas food hamper distribution. This year, it will be hosted on Saturday, December 20th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (9010 85 st). The goal is to support 151 families this year with food hampers, a cake for every family, and toys for children.

We Together Strong Community currently has a fundraiser in order to help achieve these goals. If you are interested in making a donation or if you’d like more information, click HERE.

December GMM

Our next GMM is Saturday, December 6th at 10 am. This is a hybrid meeting, so you can attend in person at the office (18121 107 Ave) or online via Zoom. If you wish to attend online, the deadline to register is December 5th at noon. For more information and to register to attend online, click HERE.

Recall Elections

At our November GMM, the membership voted in favour of encouraging members to take part in the recall campaigns for UCP MLAs in response to their use of the notwithstanding clause to suspend the rights of teachers.

Elections Alberta has a list of current recall petitions. For more information about recall petitions or to see if there is a recall petition in your riding, click HERE.
