Friends and comrades,
In this week’s Dispatch, we are covering negotiations updates, the November GMM, the RSMC flyer pay clawback, and a message from VP4 Cristina Phillips.
Before getting to that, I would like to draw your attention to our Local education page. The online application is now up and you can use that to apply for the upcoming Basic Shop Steward course.
Solidarity,
Kyle Turner

Negotiations Update
The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates (known as OGGO) started its hearings on October 23rd. Minister Lightbound, once again, repeated the Corporation’s claims in order to justify gutting the post office. Professor Ian Lee was also invited as an expert witness. Professor Lee’s name might be familiar to you, as he claimed in 2015 that by 2025 there wouldn’t be any more letters. To read the full bulletin about day one, click HERE.
The OGGO hearings continued on Tuesday, October 28th. Representatives from CUPW got to speak. Our representatives explained that Minister Lightbound’s announcement will destroy the post office and that none of these cuts are necessary in order to return the Corporation to sustainability.
In fact, most of this year’s losses stem from lower parcel volumes which are a result of the labour uncertainty. It was also pointed out that there is a conflict of interest, as Canada Post CEO Doug Ettinger and other Canada Post officials sit on Purolator’s Board of Directors. To read the full bulletin about day two, click HERE.
Finally, our lead negotiators for both bargaining units have meetings scheduled with Canada Post for Thursday morning. The goal is to set an agenda to find some common ground to advance negotiations. To read the full bulletin, click HERE

November GMM
Our next GMM is Saturday, November 1st at 10 am. This is a hybrid meeting, so you can attend in person (18121 107 Ave NW) or online via Zoom. The deadline to register to attend online is Friday, October 31st at noon. For more information or to register to attend online, click HERE.

RSMC Flyer Pay Clawback

We are asking that you send the following information to RSMCFLY2025@outlook.com:
- Paystub 21
- Letter of explanation
- The depot you work at
- Route # or if you are on a long-term assignment

Message from VP4 (RSMCs)
I am Cristina Phillips, your elected 4th Vice-President (RSMCs). Do you have concerns or issues in your depot or workplace? Would you like more information or resources? Would you like the VP4 to visit your depot? Please feel free to reach out to me at rsmc730@gmail.com to discuss any of the above and how the VP4 can assist you.
