Friends and comrades,
As of the writing of this Dispatch, we still have yet to receive any results about the strike vote. The quickest way to find these results once they are available will be to check the National CUPW website at www.cupw.ca.
As for this Dispatch, we are covering the November GMM, a Picket Captain and Strike Committee meeting, the CUPE Alberta Rally for Respect, a petition from Teamsters Canada Rail Conference, and a video from We Together Strong Community.
Solidarity,
Kyle Turner, Communications Officer

Picket Captain and Strike Committee Meeting

CUPE Alberta Rally for Respect
There is a rally in support of CUPE Local 3550 on Thursday, October 24th from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Legislature (10800 97 Ave).
CUPE 3550 was set to go on strike on the 24th, but the Edmonton Public School Board requested and received a disputes inquiry board, which will delay any job actions. For a more detailed explanation, you can check out an article by Jeremy Appel written for the Progress Report
HERE.
Teamsters Canada Rail Conference Petition to the Canadian Government
We have received a petition from Teamsters Canada Rail that is calling on the Federal Government "to sustain the provisions of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and not refer instances of labour disputes to third parties including but not limited to the Canada Industrial Relations Board."
This petition comes out of recent decisions by the government that has prevented workers from striking. If you would like to sign this petition, click HERE. If you sign this petition, they will send you a confirmation link in an email, so remember to check your email afterwards (or your spam folder if you do not see it).
