Friends and comrades,
In this Dispatch, we will be covering strike votes, the SMS/Text service, negotiations updates, an upcoming Organizing Committee meeting, as well as our new merch.
Solidarity,
Kyle Turner, Communications Officer
Strike Votes
Our strike vote dates are wrapping up. Tonight, you can vote in the union office (18121 107 Ave) from 6 pm until 8 pm. Be prepared for a brief information session as per our National Constitution. There are also separate meetings for Urban and RSMC, so it is possible there will be a short wait
To view the remaining dates, click
HERE.
The results of the vote should be published at some point during the week starting October 20th. Keep your eyes on the
National website for the most up to date information, but we will also let you know through here.
SMS/Text Service
For our texting service that we will be using to let everyone know about a strike or lockout, messages will be coming from (833) 849-0390. Please add this number to your contacts so that it is not marked as spam.
If you're not sure if we have your cell phone number, you can update that by contacting the office or by completing our online form
HERE.
Negotiations Update
The negotiations updates are coming in fast now. Since the employer shared their global offers, our union has since responded with our offers. You can read the Urban offer
HERE and the RSMC offer
HERE.
Because the time for a strike or lockout is quickly approaching, it is also important to remember that we will not be guaranteed coverage of our drug plans during that time. If you or a dependant is on a maintenance drug or long-term medication, our National office is encouraging you to speak with a doctor and get a 3-month supply.

Organizing Committee Meeting
The Organizing Committee is going to be having a meeting on
Saturday, October 12th at
10 am. It will be held over
Zoom. If you wish to attend, please email
organize730@gmail.com and a link will be sent out before the meeting.
Local 730 Strike Relief Fund Merch
The Edmonton Local passed a motion at the February GMM to purchase strike merch, with all funds to go into a strike relief fund.
I am pleased to announce that we have received this merch and it's now for sale. We have hoodies for $65 (sizes Small through 4XL) and long sleeve shirts (sizes Small through 3XL) for $35, both of which have locally made designs. Quantities are limited.
If you would like a long sleeve shirt or hoodie and you can't pick it up at the office, shipping within the Edmonton Local is $5. If you are outside of the Edmonton Local, shipping is $10.
