Friends and Comrades,
In this weeks Dispatch we have the police being called to the EMPP, contract demands workshop, and a GMM reminder for March 4th.
In solidarity,
Devon Rundvall / Local President
The Incident at the EMPP
You may have heard there was an incident at the EMPP last week. I was asked to join the members of Shift 3 parcels at the Edmonton Mail Processing Plant for a quarterly meeting with their manager.
Instead of letting the members use their Right to Complain (Article 9.07 of the Urban Collective Agreement) to address a number of health and safety issues, management refused to attend the meeting. Management then started threatening members with discipline.
Resolution Writing Workshops
We will be hosting two resolution writing workshops to help us prepare resolutions for our contract demands. These will be hybrid meetings, so you can attend in person at our office. The first workshop will focus on how to write a resolution and that will be happening on March 7th. The second workshop will focus on making sure your resolution is properly written so that it won't fail based on a technical error. This workshop is happening on March 25th at 10 am.
These resolutions will be voted on at two upcoming Special GMMs. Those that pass will then be voted on at Regional Conference before being sent to National.
March GMM
Our next GMM is Saturday, March 4th, at 10 am. This will be a hybrid meeting, so you can attend online via Zoom or in person at our union office (18121 107 Ave NW). If you plan on attending online, you must register by Friday, March 3rd, at noon.
