The arrival of February marks a staggering amount of opportunities presenting themselves to the members of our local. In this week’s dispatch you will find updates on an exciting Nationwide campaign, and local plans, to organize our members leading up to Negotiations 2022, getting pocket calendars to those that missed out, as well as registration info for our upcoming Feb 6 general membership meeting.

Local General Membership Meeting (Online) Feb 6, 11am 

The deadline to register for our next (online) GMM is Friday, Feb 5 at noon. The official meeting notice, online guidelines, and registration information is all linked below. Anyone with a smartphone or computer is able to easily connect to the meeting -- no need to download any new programs or apps, and you don’t have to turn on your camera if you’re feeling shy. These meetings are very informative and efficient, made all the better by having as many of our members are possible participating. More hands makes lighter work! (Read more >>)

Organizing Committee - Open Meeting -  Jan 27, 7pm

This meeting will discuss, and support, the rollout of a new National organizing campaign starting this February to prepare our union for the next round of collective bargaining. Our local will need at least 25 members, representing each major facility, to make sure we will have a strong enough network to properly prepare for negotiations. If you are interested in actively helping our local build up our negotiation leverage and strike capacity, we are encouraging you to join us for this meeting. CUPW 730 Pocket Calendars

Our Executive voted this past weekend to purchase more pocket calendars to make sure that those who missed out on the first round, still have an opportunity to get one. If you have not received a pocket calendar, please talk to a shop steward in your facility, or contact the union office. We should be able to get them out to you fairly quickly.

To stay aligned with the newest health guidelines, our office remains locked and available by appointment only. We are trying to conduct all meetings with members over the phone or via video conferencing. Exemptions can be made for unique circumstances. In either case, please call (780) 423-9000 to arrange an appointment with the appropriate officer. We are extremely busy in the office trying to put out a thousand different fires, so please leave a message if you’re unable to catch us on the phone.
