Orange T-Shirts Now Available

September 30th is Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada. As an initiative from our Local's Human Rights Committee, we now have orange t-shirts available. All proceeds from these shirts will be donated to a local Indigenous organization. To place an order, please send an email to union@cupw730.net with your shipping address and size.

Some other actions to consider: read the 94 calls to action, learn about the peoples who land you reside on (Edmonton is on Treaty 6 territory), and participate in a Truth and Reconciliation event in your community. Visit here for a list of events in and around Edmonton to learn about our history and reflect on Truth and Reconciliation.

If you or anyone you know has been affected by the residential school system, there is a national Indian Residential School Crisis Line that provides emotional and crisis referral services: 1-866-925-4419. There is also the British Columbia-based Indian Residential School Survivor Society and you can find out more information about the IRSSS at www.irsss.ca.
